About Us
Gentle Hands and Feet, Inc. (GHF), established in 2022 under the leadership of President Claudia Rockemore, is dedicated to serving differently-abled individuals of all ages. Our mission is to create a fully accessible indoor recreational and entertainment destination where individuals with disabilities and their families and friends can enjoy inclusive activities. In addition to providing a supportive recreational environment, GHF is committed to empowering these individuals through leadership and entrepreneurship training. Our programs aim to equip participants with essential skills for effective leadership and the fundamentals of starting, building, running, and developing a business. GHF embodies the integration of physical accessibility, sensory stimulation, and social interaction, fostering a community where all individuals can thrive.
Vision Statement
To be a welcoming and inclusive space where individuals of all abilities feel a sense of belonging and acceptance.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to create a community that champions inclusion, acceptance, and equality and removes barriers to participation. We strive to provide fully accessible recreational spaces for individuals of all abilities, ensuring a level playing field where everyone can participate and thrive.
Our Commitment
In Maryland neighborhoods, there are many differently-abled individuals with special needs: cognitive, physical, social, and intellectual. While there are many indoor playgrounds and recreational businesses in the area, currently, there are no other facilities providing this specific service to meet the needs of this target demographic in Prince George’s and surrounding counties.
Our Goal
The goal of GHF is to provide a fully accessible indoors/outdoors recreational and entertainment destination for people with special needs, their families, and friends. A place to get together, have fun and develop skills.
Our Staff
GHF and our caring staff is dedicated to assisting the unique needs of our target population, regardless of race, color, national, or ethnic origin, to improve their quality of life and ultimately, the community at large. We aim to provide customized, culturally sensitive and skill-appropriate programming and support services to address poverty, unemployment and other life challenges. Staggered class schedules, six days a week, successfully combines teaching the leadership and entrepreneurial skills that encourage positive behavior, self confidence and that are necessary for differently-able individuals to move forward
