We are currently in the process of reaching our goal to have a recreational facility.
Your donations and partnerships will significantly expedite our progress and bring us closer to achieving that goal
Our Story
Claudia Rockemore’s deeply heartfelt journey to founding Gentle Hands and Feet Inc. began in 2019. She felt a calling placed upon her heart to embody the Lord’s Hands and Feet, reaching out to support differently-abled individuals and their families. She envisioned a place where those with cognitive, developmental, and physical disabilities could find a place to belong.
Gentle Hand and Feet Inc is more than just a place; it’s a haven where individuals of all ages can discover the beauty of social interaction and immerse themselves in a world of creativity. Above all, it’s a place where everyone, regardless of their abilities, feels a profound sense of belonging—a testament to Claudia’s vision of spreading love and acceptance
How Your Donation Helps Make An Impact
As an approved 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization, Gentle Hands and Feet, Inc has no administration fees and 100% of all donations will be used for the destined purposes detailed below.
In order to implement mission-critical tasks, we’ll need to acquire equipment, fixtures, electronics, vehicles and other fixed assets.
We are seeking a brick-and-mortar that will allow us to create an indoor experience unlike any other. We will have space for…
- Social Interaction
- Engage in Physical Activities
- Music, Arts, and Crafts
- Virtual Reality Activities
In Maryland neighborhoods, there are many differently-abled individuals with special needs: cognitive, physical, social, and intellectual. While there are many indoor playgrounds and recreational businesses in the area, currently, there are no other indoor or outdoor facilities providing this specific service to meet the needs of this target demographic in Prince George’s and surrounding counties.
Our Programs
We intend to offer the following programs
Recreational therapy, also known as therapeutic recreation, is a systematic process that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the assessed needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions, as a means to psychological and physical health, recovery and well-being.
Our main access area is an open gym divided into sections based on age, physical ability, and cognitive ability. The open gym will consist of equipment for spatial and balance orientation, strength, and motor control which aid in mobility development in a fun setting. This area will include swings for sensory integration, slides, and climber units, jump and play activities, fitness rockers, adaptable wheelchairs swings, and an obstacle course. This area will promote movement and interaction. The open gym will also consist of equipment for spatial and balance orientation, strength, and motor control which aid in mobility development in a fun setting.
GHF will provide the opportunity to indulge into the wonders of arts and craft. Our guest will engage in sensory craft such as, painting, coloring and handmade crafts. This will provide an opportunity for self- expression, creativity and encourage our guests to communicate emotions, thoughts and have a sense of pride and accomplishment.
GHF will have a music access designed to allow individuals to create, sing, move and listen to music.
GHF virtual reality space is designed to provide a stimulating experience, which will allow the user to explore and react in a 3-dimensional space.
GHF will offer a comprehensive leadership program for economically disadvantaged men, women, and youth, which is designed to motivate and teach them how to be effective leaders.

Entrepreneurship trainings will create economic opportunities for low-income participants through teaching communications and entrepreneurship skills, so they can establish successful livelihoods. This is achieved through classes such as The Basics of Starting a Business and The Importance of Writing a Business Plan, as well as offering various community supports to help participants achieve their dreams. GHF will utilize a community-friendly entrepreneurship approach and not an education solely centered on personal gain. Our trainings will go beyond a simplified version of a business school curriculum. Community-minded training (i.e. selecting a business to fulfill unmet local needs) will be interwoven through each class and designed to not only build capacity in the trainee, but also in the community.
